Physiotherapy

The aim of the curriculum is to train physiotherapists with professional preparation at the level of professional higher education. Physiotherapist is able to perform physiotherapeutic assessment to determine physiotherapeutic objectives and select the most appropriate interventions. Physiotherapy is concerned with identifying and maximising the quality of life and potential for movement within the fields of health promotion, prevention, treatment/intervention and rehabilitation. This includes physical, psychological, emotional, and social wellbeing.

Physiotherapists work in a wide variety of settings such as orthopaedics, intensive care, paediatrics, mental illness, stroke recovery, occupational health, ergonomics, musculoskeletal treatment in hospitals and private practice, and care of the elderly. They may work alone, with physiotherapy colleagues or in multi-professional rehabilitation teams. Increasingly, physiotherapists cooperate with sport`s organisations and athletes.

Workload of programme: 180 ECTS
Standard period of study: 3 years​​​​​​​
Language of instruction: Estonian

The curriculum consists of three basic modules:

  • basic physiotherapy subjects
  • specialist physiotherapy subjects
  • professional and personal development
