Physiotherapy

It's all about movement!

Physiotherapy is a science-based health care system that improves health without the use of drugs or surgery and views movement as central to health and wellbeing. Physical therapy is concerned with identifying and maximising the quality of life and potential for movement within the spheres of promotion, prevention, treatment/intervention, habilitation and rehabilitation. This encompasses physical, psychological, emotional, and social wellbeing. Physiotherapists work in a wide variety of settings such as orthopedics, intensive care, paediatrics, mental illness, stroke recovery, occupational health, ergonomics, musculoskeletal treatment in hospitals and private practice, and care of the elderly. They may work alone, with physiotherapy colleagues or teams and with other healthcare professionals in multi-profession teams.

The duration of study on the accredited curriculum is 3 years (180 ECTS). The curriculum consists of three basic modules:

  • basic physiotherapy subjects
  • specialist physiotherapy subjects
  • professional and personal development
